University of Edinburgh news (2008) - Project cultivates green awareness

Climate, Carbon, Conservation and Communities. An IIED/WWF Briefing 2007. The project is provided as an example of a scheme specifically designed with community benefits in mind (p.3)

The project is highly visible on the internet. To test we used Google on 17th May 2007. Entering 'miombo' showed this project web site as the 3rd most important internet entry on miombo.

The influential Stern (Sir Nicholas Stern, Head of the UK Government Economics Service and Adviser to the Government on the economics of climate change and development) report on the "Economics of Climate Change" (See Box 25.4 from Stern Review, HM Treasury 2006) cited the project as "an example of the potential for [a] beneficial relationship between emissions reductions and poverty reduction".

The Sunday Times featured the project in its Sunday supplement magazine (Girling 2005) to coincide with the G8 summit held at Gleneagles, Scotland in July 2005.

In Mozambique, the project has received many visitors:
- delegations of international scientists, veterinary experts from South Africa, the provincial Governor, provincial Directors of Agriculture, Tourism, Environment and representatives of other aid programmes (notably, GTZ for the purpose of involving the community in a fire control project and the Carr Foundation, an organisation dedicated to human rights and the environment).
- UK politicians have visited the project on fact-finding missions, including the Conservative shadow environment minister.

The project has been featured on Mozambican TV and in Newspapers.
